I’ve always gravitated towards eccentric people. A dictionary search defines eccentricity as unconventional and slightly strange behavior. Strange is defined as unsettling and hard to understand. Personally — I define eccentricity as any and every form of self-expression from bowties and suites to tattoos and mohawks because it all depends on individual persuasion. Depending upon your perspective— any aspect of the full range of expression could be deemed “strange.” But it is these non conforming, fantastic, mystifying, marvelous, offbeat, atypical, perplexing displays of human expression that make day-to-day living so interesting and refreshing. Who wants a cookie-cutter life? Don’t we all crave a bit of extra-ordinary entertainment? Imagine a world if everyone shared their hidden bit of eccentricity that’s been bottled up. More smiles, more laughter, less judgement, more acceptance because more unusual would be embraced. As we age, many of us begin to appreciate eccentricity in ourselves and others. When we accept eccentricity in others, we are actually giving ourselves greater freedom as well. How do you express your eccentricity?
