Intuition is the ability to understand or know something instinctively, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is a deep sense or gut feeling that guides decisions and problem-solving, drawing on past experiences, emotions, and subconscious knowledge. Intuition can manifest as a sudden insight or a clear understanding of a situation, even when reasoning cannot be articulated.✨
My Mother always said I was intuitive. She also reminded me to listen and trust it more often than I did for years. My husband believes I hear “the unspoken words.” He’ll relay a conversation to me, and when I tell him what the other was thinking or saying, he shakes his head—ultimately, telling me later, I was right. Many of my long-standing clients rely on me the same way: They share a conversation about a situation or negotiation, and I relay the unsaid subtext of the discussion. ✨
We all have intuition — but we’re afraid to trust it. But, here’s the thing: I don’t like spending too much time thinking! It interrupts my time. This is probably why I’ve studied belief formation and hypnosis for decades. There is immense wisdom found in trusting our pre-conscious and unconscious minds. The more I honor my intuition, the more I get done. And, ironically, I often get more done by doing far less.✨
Intuition elevates naturally when your mind is calm and peaceful. The intuition that so wants to help us is stifled by anxious, agitated, fidgety, nervous, troubled, unsettled minds and states. ✨
The more my intuition develops, the more I rarely allow reasoning by myself or others to overrule it. I certainly politely listen. My days are filled with listening to people — but when rationalizing, justifying, or over-explaining kick in — I listen even more closely to my “gut.” Remember: The gut and brain are connected via the brain-gut axis. The vagus nerve connects both, carrying sensory information to the brain and motor signals back to the gut. And — did you know both the gut and brain use the same chemicals, like neurotransmitters and hormones, to communicate? They do! ✨
Intuition is our compass: always trying to get us to listen. But to tune into receiving mode, we must stop & breathe it in.
