How can we thrive even with negativity all around us? Negativity seems to be everywhere we turn, but that doesn’t mean we have to let it define us. In this episode, I’m here to share some insights on how to thrive, not just survive, in a world that can often feel overwhelming. As a longtime counselor, perception analyst and hypnotherapist with a passion that merges photography and art therapy into what I call “Photo Hypnotherapy,” I’ve come to personally witness the unconscious power each of us holds within ourselves. Whether we know it or not, we all possess unique gifts waiting to be unlocked.
The Power of Personal Choice
Unlocking our potential is not a passive process, it’s a conscious decision to transcend the limitations we — or others — have imposed upon us. It’s about choosing not to believe the falsehoods that dampen our light and instead opting for personal growth. This power of personal choice is what sets us apart. Begin each day by setting optimistic intentions. Remind yourself, as I do, “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.” This simple affirmation can set your mindset for positivity in every area of life.
More Steps for Building a Positive Mindset
- Inspire Yourself Daily: Surround yourself with inspiring content. Whether it’s a book, a podcast, or a blog—immerse in material that uplifts and aligns with your personal goals. Check out the great resources on my Silver Disobedience channels for daily motivation. Remember, you have the power to inspire yourself every day, and that’s a powerful tool in your personal growth journey.
- Cultivate Gratitude: Regularly acknowledge the positive aspects of your life. Even when it feels challenging, taking a moment to notice the simple gift of being alive can shift your perspective. A gratitude journal can reinforce this practice.
- Engage in Mindfulness: Incorporate mindfulness practices, such as meditation, deep breathing, or self-hypnosis, which help reduce stress and enhance self-awareness. There’s a reason I regularly post reminders on my social media pages that simply say: Stop and Breathe!
- Commit to Effort: Align daily actions with your goals and values. Small steps, like acts of kindness or personal improvement activities, contribute to larger-scale growth. Hold a door open. Smile at others more often. Let somebody else get that parking spot you want. It doesn’t have to be expensive in any way — just nice! 😉
- Seek Community: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your aspirations and foster a sense of belonging and encouragement.
Embrace Setbacks as Stepping Stones
Remember, setbacks are natural. They are not roadblocks but opportunities for personal growth. They test our resilience and help us build inner strength. Through consistent effort, patience, and self-compassion, you can gradually transform your mindset and overall well-being. Trust me, (if you’re not quite sure yourself (yet!),) by embracing these practices, you can train yourself to see the silver linings even in the midst of storm clouds. So, don’t fear setbacks, embrace them as stepping stones in your journey.
