I’m always fascinated by people who still opt to go old-school and shoot photos with film. Film photographers don’t just take a picture — they capture a moment with intention, trusting time and light to tell the story. 📸 In our hi-tech, ultra-speed, digital age, where an iPhone can take a decent photo or 1000 pictures because getting to “that one” is basically free — film is different. Each frame on film is a choice — measured, mindful and, from my perspective, timeless. ⏳ These photos were directed and shot on film by @SteelMcAdam The intention and focus — in Steel’s mind’s eye, not just his lens — was wholly compelling to observe. 🎞️ If you appreciate film photography, another account you might also like to check out is @RobbieQuinnNYC — a longtime film photographer who has generously been photographing, interviewing and chronicling his conversations with other photographers who shoot with film. I’ve been enjoying the collective of photos and finding their accompanying commentary thought-provoking. What I’m realizing is that film is the essence of patience and an art of waiting for the perfect light, frame, pose, and the magic that only hindsight can develop. (Yes, pun intended.) Each roll is limited to a max of 24 or 36 images. Kind of like life: Film is finite and each choice counts. When I think of the finite nature of Life — which I think about daily — I think about time and making sure I’m enjoying, experiencing and living every moment to the max.
