My observations consistently confirm that most mistakes people make don’t come from ignorance — they come from not pausing to think. People usually have the knowledge, experience, and intuition they need. What they lack is the discipline to stop and use them. Pressure, habit, ego, urgency, money, and distraction conspire to replace reflection with reaction. Assumptions go unchallenged. Consequences go unexamined. Short-term relief masquerades as smart action. The error isn’t missing information: It is skipping the moment when you ask the questions that need to be asked; check and test your impulses; and look past the immediate momentary gratification and assess the bigger picture. Thoughtlessness, not stupidity, tends to be the screwdriver that turns manageable situations into costly ones, contributing to unnecessary cracks.
